United States has recorded nearly 2000 deaths in 24 hours for the second consecutive day. The total coronavirus death toll in the US has now crossed 14,000. Pushing for the anti-malaria hydroxychloroquine to treat Covid-19 patients, Trump earlier warned India of retaliation if US doesn’t get the supply it demanded. However, after India sent the US order for hydroxychloroquine, Trump has now thanked PM Modi and said US will remember this favour. Meanwhile in India, speculation is on whether the government will extend the nationwide lockdown beyond April 14. PM Modi has hinted at extending the lockdown at an all-party meeting as the number of positive coronavirus cases crossed 5,000 in India with 150 deaths.
The UN Security Council will hold a closed video-teleconferencing session on Thursday to discuss the COVID19 situation, the first time the world body's top organ is holding a meeting on the raging coronavirus pandemic that has killed more than 88,500 people globally and infected over 1.5 million others.
